Gardening with Tamariki Programmes
This programme supports young children to learn about the whole process involved with growing their own food, from sowing a seed through to harvesting, preparing and eating the produce on a seasonal basis. I will visit your early childhood centre or home-based setting to discuss programme needs and tailor a gardening programme to suit. Once the appropriate programme has been agreed upon, I will work alongside kaiako and tamariki to implement the programme. Each visit will be approximately one hour to engage tamariki in regular gardening activities. The programme can be long term, short term, or ongoing depending on the needs of your setting.
Gardening with Children workshops will be held in your centre or home-based setting, after hours for 1½ - 2 hours. The workshops are tailored to meet your kaiako and centre gardening needs, regardless of where you are at in your gardening journey. Optional follow up visits can be undertaken to work with tamariki and kaiako during centre hours to build gardening capabilities.
Workshops for Kaiako
One-off professional development workshops, approximately 1½ hours long, are offered on a quarterly basis with a focus on gardening and what ideas of how to engage tamariki in the garden. Details will be advertised in the month prior to the workshop. (Currently these workshops are only offered in Christchurch).
